The Jacksonville Jaguars have been partners with many Jacksonville communities since the team's inception in 1993. One of our platforms as a team has been focused on ways we can positively impact our community.
Community outreach plays an important role in the goals of the organization with players, coaches and front office staff involved in appearances, charitable donations and outreach programs with non-profit and community groups. The team's Community Relations Department manages a broad scope of this support, including player involvement, NFL outreach and recognition programs, corporate partner programs, youth football, and other programs. Over 2,500 organizations are assisted annually through the Department's programs and services.
The Jaguars Foundation is also serving as the team's catalyst in the city, assisting at-risk youth and families through a variety of programs, including strategic grants. Under the leadership of Delores Barr Weaver, Jaguars Foundation Chair and CEO, the Foundations grand total in grant giving since 1995 is more than $9 million in the Jacksonville area, which includes Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties. "Our dream of the Jaguars Foundation began even before Jacksonville was awarded the 30th NFL franchise in 1993, and we were already awarding grants even before the team played its first game in 1995," Weaver remarked. "I am proud of the Jaguars Partners for making the million dollar commitment annually to support these important programs for youth and their families."
