Jaguars place William Middleton (pictured) on injured reserve, sign cornerback David Jones.

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed cornerback William Middleton on injured reserve with a knee injury and signed fifth-year cornerback David Jones to a contract.  Middleton played in the first 11 games for the Jaguars and made six starts.

Jones, 6-0, 197, played in 16 games with five starts for the Jaguars in 2010 and spent the 2011 preseason with club.  He was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 3 and was released on Sept. 10. He recorded his only career interception on Sept. 19, 2010 at San Diego.

Jones has played in 49 career games with 12 starts and totaled 74 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, 10 passes defensed and 15 special teams tackles.  He spent three seasons (2007-09) with the Cincinnati Bengals before he was traded to the Jaguars on Sept. 4, 2010 in exchange for safety Reggie Nelson.  Jones was originally a fifth-round draft pick of New Orleans in 2007.

A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Jones was a two-time All-South Atlantic Conference performer at Wingate. He finished his career with 15 touchdowns including three returned for touchdowns.

Jones will wear jersey number 20.
