JACKSONVILLE – Another day, another day of waiting.
That was the storyline around
Jones-Drew, the Jaguars’ three-time Pro Bowl running back, practiced Friday after missing the first two days of practice this week with a hamstring injury. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Tennessee.
“We’ll need to see how they feel,” Head Coach Gus Bradley said as the Jaguars (4-10) prepared to play the Tennessee Titans (5-9) at EverBank Field Sunday at 1 p.m.
“We’ll work them out before the game and finalize that.”
Jones-Drew, the Jaguars’ leading rusher this season with 719 yards and five touchdowns on 208 carries, missed last Sunday’s loss to Buffalo after sustaining a hamstring injury the previous week against Houston.
Bradley said he felt better about Jones-Drew’s chances of playing Sunday after practice Friday.
“He was in on the run plays and he took some actual reps although the tempo was slowed down,” Bradley said after a no-pads practice. “I said, ‘We need to see you where you made tremendous progress over the last couple of days.’ It will be interesting to see from (head athletic trainer) Mike (Ryan) but all tales tell us that he made good progress. …
“We always challenge our guys to really push themselves to the edge, push yourself to the edge because that’s how you have a greater chance to get better. … That was the conversation I had with him. He’s got to be smart but continue to push yourself there so you gain confidence where the injury is at.”
Cyprien, who did not miss a snap this season before missing last week’s game, said he was more confident Friday than earlier in the week.
“It’s pretty promising,” he said. “It felt good out there.”
The status of defensive tackle
Miller, who has started all 14 games this season, has played through a shoulder injury much of the season. He has practiced on a limited basis for much of the last month with the idea of resting to be able to play in games.
Miller missed practice this week with the idea of again being able to play, but Bradley said his status for Sunday is more uncertain this week.
He also is listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report of the week.
“It might be a little bit different than weeks prior but we’re still going to try to buy these next two days to see how he does,” Bradley said.
