JACKSONVILLE – The process continued over the weekend.
And while nothing official has been announced regarding the Jaguars’ search for a head coach, reports over the weekend were that the Jaguars have completed interviews with six candidates.
Those candidates reportedly were former Jaguars and New York Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin (late December), Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin (this past Tuesday), Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Mike Smith (Wednesday), Jaguars Interim Head Coach Doug Marrone (Thursday), Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan (Friday) and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels (Saturday).
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that McDaniels had a strong interview Saturday, and said over the weekend that Smith and McDaniels appear to be the favorites. Albert Breer of Monday Morning Quarterback mentioned Shanahan and Smith with the Jaguars during a Saturday periscope question-and-answer session.
Pro Football Talk reported Monday that Smith is the “top guy” in Jacksonville.
