JACKSONVILLE – The sun shone through, and the pads stayed off.
The second part is scheduled to change Saturday night – but as of Friday's second day of practice, Jaguars 2018 Training Camp remained an unpadded affair.
The Jaguars worked for about two-and-half hours on Friday morning/afternoon at the Dream Finders Homes Practice Complex in temperatures of 88 degrees. The work was the second consecutive unpadded practice to start camp.
The first padded practice of '18 camp is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m., a session that is open to season-ticket holders.
Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone, scheduled to speak to the media before Saturday's practice, as scheduled did not speak to the media Friday. Defensive end Calais Campbell and wide receiver Keelan Cole were scheduled to have media availabilities following Friday's practice.

STANDING OUT
*Second-year running back Leonard Fournette, after reporting at 223 pounds for '18 training camp, continued to be impressive early in camp. A highlight for Fournette Friday: a quick run around the right side for about 15 yards in 11-on-11 work midway through practice. …
*Rookie wide receiver DJ Chark continued to look good Friday, catching a 15-yard pass from on a crossing route from backup quarterback Cody Kessler. …
*Wide receiver Donte Moncrief opened practice with a nice 10-yard pass from Bortles. …
*Cornerback Tyler Patmon intercepted Bortles for what appeared would have been a return for a touchdown early in practice during 11-on-11 work. …
*Wide receiver Dede Westbrook continued to impress early, with one of his receptions Friday being a sliding reception on a crossing route from Bortles for 10-to-15 yards. …
*Running back T.J. Yeldon flashed Friday with a run up the middle followed by a reception from Bortles for an intermediate gain. …
*Rookie wide receiver Allen Lazard caught a 15-yard pass from rookie Tanner Lee midway through practice. Lazard had three receptions Friday. …
*Defensive tackle Abry Jones deflected a pass from Bortles at the line of scrimmage. …
PLAY OF THE DAY
Friday's unpadded work didn't feature a slew of memorable plays, but a couple of players stood out: running back Corey Grant and Westbrook. The latter has had a solid start to camp, making several sliding and diving catches during the first two days. Grant, a fourth-year veteran, had two standout plays Friday. Each of Grant's plays showed the elite-level, game-breaking speed that the Jaguars expect to be a major factor in their offense this season. One of Grant's receptions came off a quick pass from Bortles that turned into a 25-yard gain. Look for Grant to have an increased role in the offense this season.
INJURY WATCH
Three Jaguars players remained on the Physically Unable to Perform list, with a fourth not participating on the reserve/non-football injury list.
Players on PUP: Defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. (shoulder), tight end David Grinnage (knee) and offensive guard Brandon Thomas (knee). Offensive tackle Brandon Smith is on the non-football injury list.
Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey remained out of practice and away from the team following the birth of his daughter this week. He is expected back when daughter and mother are settled, Marrone said Wednesday.
NOTABLE
*Rookie Leon Jacobs worked with the first team at strongside linebacker for a second consecutive day to start camp. Jacobs, a seventh-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft from the University of Wisconsin, is expected to compete with second-year veteran Blair Brown for the starting position vacated when Myles Jack moved to the middle on a permanent basis following the retirement of longtime middle linebacker Paul Posluszny. …
*Moncrief and Marqise Lee continued to work with the starters early in camp, with second-year veterans Cole and Westbrook getting some reps with the starters and second team. Chark has looked good early in camp playing with the reserves. …
*Fourth-year veteran A.J. Cann worked with the first team at right guard for a second consecutive day, with the starting offensive line on Friday mostly right tackle Jermey Parnell, Cann, center Brandon Linder, left guard Andrew Norwell and left tackle Cam Robinson. …
