Gabbert to start Sunday

Jacksonville Jaguars will start QB Blaine Gabbert against the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Field Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE – Blaine Gabbert will start for the Jaguars Sunday.

Gabbert, the Jaguars’ starting quarterback to start the regular season, had the stitches removed from his right throwing hand before the Jaguars’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday and Head Coach Gus Bradley said he will start Sunday against Indianapolis.

The Jaguars play the Colts at EverBank Field in Jacksonville Sunday at 1 p.m.

Gabbert missed the last two games with a laceration on his throwing hand sustained on the final series of the Jaguars’ season-opening loss to Kansas City.

The laceration required 15 stiches.

Gabbert, a third-year veteran, had some of the stitches removed last week while the team practiced in San Jose, Calif., in preparation for a 45-17 loss to Seattle Sunday. Bradley said he had the rest of the stitches removed Sunday.

Chad Henne started the last two games at quarterback for the Jaguars, and has completed 46 of 82 passes for 512 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.

Gabbert completed 16 of 35 passes for 121 yards and no touchdowns with two interceptions against the Chiefs. Gabbert had been named the starter midway through the preseason before missing the final two preseason games with a thumb injury.
