  • Sat., May. 18, 2013 10:00AM - 2:00PM EDT The Jags Stand United Rally at Nocatee Join Head Coach Gus Bradley and the Jaguars for a Stand United Rally at the Nocatee Farmers Market on Saturday, May 18th to generate excitement about the upcoming season. The event will take place from 10:00-2:00pm, with most Jaguars activities beginning around 11:00am.

    The rally will include appearances by Jaguars current and alumni players, ROAR cheerleaders, and everyone’s favorite mascot, Jaxson de Ville! There will also be inflatables and interactive games for kids, raffle prizes, food vendors and performances by the Jaguars D-Line.

    The event is free and open to the public.

Jaguars awarded new running back

Jaguars awarded running back Jonathan Grimes off waivers.

The Jacksonville Jaguars today were awarded rookie running back Jonathan Grimesoff waivers from Houston.  The Jaguars’ roster stands at 53 players.

Grimes, 5-10, 209, was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Houston and also spent time with the New York Jets.  He played in nine games in 2012, six with the Texans and three with the Jets. 

Grimes left William & Mary as the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards (4,541), all-purpose yards (7,955), kickoff return yards (2,289) and rushing attempts (936).  He finished with 11 all-conference honors and was a first-team All-America selection as a senior.  He led the nation in his final season with 228.2 all-purpose yards per game and ranked sixth in the nation with 130.1 rushing yards per game.  He closed out his collegiate career with three consecutive 200-plus rushing games.

A native of Fairfax, Va., Grimes attended Paul VI Catholic High School where he was honored as the All-South Jersey Running Back of the Year in 2007.  He rushed for a single-season school record 1,925 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior.  He also lettered in basketball and track.

Grimes will wear jersey number 43.
