Jacksonville Jaguars agree to terms with former Cleveland Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi

JACKSONVILLE -- The Jaguars added depth to their receiver corps on Friday.

Mohamed Massaquoi, a fifth-year wide receiver and a former second-round draft selection, agreed to terms to sign as an unrestricted free agent with the Jaguars on Friday, the team announced Friday afternoon.

Duration and terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Massaquoi (6-feet-2, 227 pounds), who played collegiately at Georgia, spent the past four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him in the second round in 2009.

Massaquoi, the No. 50 selection in the draft that year, has started 43 of 54 games in four seasons, catching 118 passes for 1,745 yards and seven touchdowns. He twice has had 100-yard receiving games and has had 17 receptions of 25-plus yards.

Massaquoi played in nine games last season, starting five games with 17 receptions for 254 yards.  He also caught 34 passes for 624 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.

He started 36 of 51 games at Georgia, finishing with 158 receptions for 2,282 yards and 16 touchdowns.  He was a first-team All-SEC selection as a senior with 58 receptions for 920 yards.

Including Massaquoi, the Jaguars now have eight receivers on the roster – Cecil Shorts, Justin Blackmon, Jordan Shipley, Massaquoi, Mike Brown, Toney Clemons, Jerrell Jackson and Taylor Price.

Shorts and Blackmon combined to catch 119 passes for 1,844 yards and 12 touchdowns, with Blackmon leading all rookies with 64 receptions for 864 yards and five touchdowns and Shorts catching 55 passes for 979 yards and seven touchdowns.

Shipley added 23 receptions for 244 yards and a touchdown, while Clemons caught three passes for 41 yards. Neither Price nor Jackson played in a game last season.
