Posluszny not ruled out

Posted Nov 11, 2013

Jacksonville Jaguars HC Gus Bradley said MLB Paul Posluszny not ruled out for Sunday’s game at Arizona.

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars wouldn’t let Paul Posluszny back in the game late Sunday.

They haven’t ruled him out this week, either.

Posluszny, the Jaguars’ starting middle linebacker and leading tackler, will begin the week in the concussion program along with guard Will Rackley and wide receiver Stephen Burton, the latter of who also sustained the injury in a victory over the Titans Sunday.

Rackley missed Sunday’s game with a concussion sustained October 27 against San Francisco.

“We’ll know more on those guys on Wednesday,” Bradley said Monday, a day after the Jaguars (1-8) held off a late Tennessee rally for a 29-27 victory at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn.

Posluszny sustained his concussion with 2:11 remaining Sunday in a violent collision with defensive end Andre Branch while tackling Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, but Bradley said Posluszny has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Arizona.

The Jaguars’ training staff and Bradley prevented Posluszny from returning to the game.

“They were talking to him and I looked back and saw the intensity he had to get back in the game,” Bradley said. “I went over and told him, ‘We’re going to do what’s right. It’s far bigger than this game right now.’ He wanted to get back in there, but to his credit, he followed our advice.”

Posluszny finished Sunday’s game with eight tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He leads the Jaguars with 88 tackles, and also has two interceptions, seven passes defensed and two tackles for losses.

Bradley said if Posluszny can’t play, outside linebacker Russell Allen could move to the spot. Rookie LaRoy Reynolds is listed as the team’s backup middle linebacker.
