UPDATED: Mularkey expected to be OK

The Jaguars expect Mike Mularkey to be OK.

Mularkey, in his first season as the Jaguars’ head coach, missed much of the team’s work at EverBank Field Monday after feeling ill and being taken to the hospital, but Jaguars Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker said the team expects Mularkey to return to work Tuesday.

The Jaguars, losers of 11 of 13 games this season, lost to the New York Jets Sunday at EverBank.

Tucker attended Mularkey’s regularly-scheduled 2 p.m. press conference in Mularkey’s place. Tucker, the defensive coordinator the past four seasons, served as interim head coach for the final five games last season.

“I did talk to him earlier, and it’s business as usual at EverBank,” Tucker said. “He seemed to be doing pretty good and we look forward to having back here tomorrow.”

Mularkey, the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator the past four seasons, took over as the team’s head coach in January.

Mularkey was in the office early Monday and began feeling ill, the team announced. He then went to the training room to see a trainer, who took him to Baptist Medical Center. He was undergoing tests Monday and may be kept overnight.
