Jaguars sign linebacker Andy Studebaker, waive kicker Adam Yates

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed sixth-year linebacker Andy Studebaker to a contract and waived rookie kicker Adam Yates, the club announced today.

Studebaker, 6-3, 248, has played in 70 career games with eight starts, all with Kansas City.  His career totals include 45 special teams tackles, 83 tackles (61 solo) on defense, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions.  Studebaker was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008.  He spent the majority of his rookie season on the Eagles practice squad before he was signed to the Chiefs active roster where he remained until his release on April 1, 2013.

In 2012, Studebaker played in all 16 games for the fourth straight season, making one start, and produced three tackles on defense and five special teams tackles.  He started a career-high five games in 2011 for the Chiefs.  He had his only two career interceptions against Pittsburgh on November 22, 2009 including a 96-yard return for a touchdown.

A native of Congerville, Illinois, Studebaker was a four-year letterman at Wheaton where he finished his career with 111 tackles, 50.5 tackles for loss and 30 sacks.  He registered 17.5 sacks as a junior, the most in school history and tops in the NCAA.

Studebaker will wear jersey number 54.
