Jaguars make roster moves

Posted Dec 20, 2013

Team signs DT Jordan Miller and WR Lamaar Thomas from practice squad; place WR Jeremy Ebert on IR.

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed first-year defensive tackle Jordan Miller and rookie wide receiver Lamaar Thomas to the club’s active roster from the practice squad.  First-year wide receiver Jeremy Ebert was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.  The Jaguars currently have 53 players on the active roster.

Miller, 6-1, 316, has spent the last 10 weeks on the club’s practice squad after signing on October 1.  He spent the 2013 preseason with Green Bay before he was waived on final cuts.  Miller was signed to Kansas City’s practice squad on Sept. 10 and waived on Sept. 21.  He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears in 2011 where he spent the first 16 weeks on the club’s practice squad before he was signed to the active roster for the final regular season game and the postseason.  He was signed by the Packers on Oct. 23, 2012, where he spent time on the active roster and practice squad.

A native of Marlboro, Maryland, Miller was a three-year letterman at Southern University after initially joining the program as a walk-on.  He finished his career with 90 tackles, 15.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 31 games.

Miller wears jersey number 96.

Thomas, 6-0, 185, was signed to the club’s practice squad on October 1.  He was signed as an undrafted rookie by Denver in 2013 and spent the preseason with the club before he was waived on final cuts.

Thomas played in 39 career games with 10 starts at New Mexico from 2011-12 after transferring from Ohio State where he spent the 2008-09 seasons.  Playing in New Mexico’s triple-option offense, he posted a team-high 15 catches for 165 yards and one touchdown as a senior and rushed for 220 yards on 31 carries.   He saw action in 23 games for the Buckeyes where he played wide receiver and kick returner.  He also competed in track at both schools.  He is a native of Ft. Washington, Maryland where he attended Friendly High School.

Thomas wears jersey number 81.
