Trulock named Head Athletic Trainer

Posted Feb 10, 2014

Jacksonville Jaguars name Scott Trulock Head Athletic Trainer.

The Jacksonville Jaguars named Scott Trulock head athletic trainer, the club announced today.  Trulock spent the past seven seasons in the same capacity for the University of North Carolina football team.

Trulock is only the second head athletic trainer in franchise history as he replaces Mike Ryan who spent 19 seasons with the club.

Prior to his stint at North Carolina, Trulock worked 11 years in the National Football League.  He served as an assistant athletic trainer for the Denver Broncos from 2004-06.  Trulock was the director of rehabilitation for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002-03 where he earned a Super Bowl ring in 2002.  He began his career as an assistant athletic trainer with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1996-98 and also worked for the San Diego Chargers from 1999-2001.

“We are excited to have Scott on board to lead our athletic training staff,” Jaguars General Manager David Caldwell said.  “Scott brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization that will greatly benefit our players.  His previous experience in the NFL and his tenure at North Carolina has prepared him well for this role.  He also has the unique opportunity to return to the state of Florida where he grew up.”

“I am very excited for this opportunity with the Jaguars,” Trulock said. “I had the opportunity to meet extensively with Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley and the energy and passion they have for the organization was contagious.  I’m looking forward to getting down to Jacksonville and continuing the first-class care they have shown for their players.”

During his time in the NFL, Trulock was a member of the Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society (PFTAS).  Within the society, he served as the director of research for the PFATS Research and Education Foundation. In this role, he was responsible for spearheading the surveillance of injury data in order to establish trends in injury patterns to NFL players. In addition, Trulock has presented at many local, state and national meetings.

A native of Orlando, Trulock earned his undergraduate degree in sports medicine at Valdosta State University in 1994 and his master’s degree in athletic training from North Carolina in 1996. Scott and his wife, Jamie, have two daughters, Corinne and Riley.
