You only named nine players. Who's number 10?
Vic: I left that one for you guys while I was on vacation. Did you have fun with it?
Choy from Jacksonville
We just got back from a trip to Las Vegas and we picked up their local paper. In the sports column they list the odds of teams winning the Super Bowl and the conferences. The Jags are placed third to win the conference under the Pats and Colts. Also, they are ranked fourth to win the Super Bowl under Pats, Colts and Cowboys. What is your take on this and your opinion on the standings?
Vic: It’s all meaningless.
Franchot from St. Augustine, FL
I hear all this stuff about Tiger. What about Kelly Slater? He is the youngest surfer to ever win a world title and the oldest and he is on his way to his ninth title at age 36. There is no better athlete than Kelly Slater.
Vic: Never heard of him.
Joe from Jacksonville
You know, if you guys don't have anything to talk about on “Jaguars This Week,” why don't you start taking people's phone calls? You have one hour a week; one hour a freakin’ week and you really can't think of anything to talk about? Take people's phone calls, be respectful and you'll have topics to talk about, otherwise, stop wasting everybody's time talking about crap that no one wants to hear. Gimme a freakin' break! “Dead zone?” That’s laughable. Did you make that little phrase up all by yourself, Vic?
Vic: Yes, I did, and I’m kind of proud of it. Have a nice day.
Allen from Jacksonville
Kevin Williams? What about that little-known receiver Randy Moss?
Vic: Receivers are a dime a dozen.
Aaron from Amarillo, TX
Do you know who will be wearing the radio transmitters on defense?
Vic: Jack Del Rio said at the close of OTAs that he still wasn’t sure who would get the transmitter on defense. He referred to some reluctance for putting it in the helmet of an up-front banger, since the banging would increase the chance that the transmitter would malfunction. That’s great. Now we’re going to discourage hitting because it might dislodge the flux capacitor. Another great invention for improving the game? Yuk!

About the Wonderlic: I remember that Kevin Curtis scored the highest in the league in the test. Then I remember him recovering two lost fumbles by a teammate in the end zone for touchdowns in back-to-back weeks, just because he didn't stand around doing nothing after he saw the ball was not thrown at him, like many NFL players do. I don't know if the two facts are related but it's possible, to a degree. Your thoughts?
Vic: Some people would say that’s instinct and effort, but I can tell you that Franco Harris wasn’t supposed to be downfield when the ball bounced off Frenchy Fuqua, but Franco was and Franco is a very bright man. Intelligence is a good thing, but it has to marry with football instincts for it to be expressed.
Samuel from Fort Worth, TX
The Patriots were very predictable. They should have run the ball more. Yet, the greatest teams in NFL history have been the most predictable. Opponents know what is coming and they can't stop it. I guess the Patriots weren't that great. Any comments?
Vic: You seem to have analyzed it very well. The Patriots were good enough to be predictable and win 18 in a row, but they weren’t good enough to be predictable and win number 19. Why? Because being predictable is one thing, but doing it on every down is something else. The Steelers were going to run the traps, but they also threw it down the field to Swann and Stallworth. The 49ers were going to throw the ball a lot, but Roger Craig would get his carries. The Cowboys were going to run the lead draw with Emmitt, but Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin provided balance. The Patriots lacked that balance. After running the ball very well early in the season, they quit on the running game and began chasing records. They crossed over from being predictable to being one-dimensional and teams that are truly great are seldom one-dimensional.
Don from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL
Is there a chance the Jaguars keep six wide receivers this year?
Vic: Yes, provided one of them is on the practice squad. That’s my guess.
Jordan from Jacksonville
Are you serious? You put Adrian Peterson in the top 10 but not Fred Taylor? Nothing against Peterson but he has only played one season. You could have thrown someone else in there.
Vic: I could have but I didn’t because if I had done that I wouldn’t be giving my honest opinion. I consider Peterson to be one of the top nine players in the league.
Aaron from Milroy, PA
Tell Ryan to stop using other people's articles and to start making his own, or at least think of a different headline rather than “Around the league.”
Vic: You are in the “Ask Vic” Hall of Fame.
Josh from Lake Elsinore, CA
Two 400-dollar round-trip tickets from LA to Jacksonville, one 100-dollar hotel reservation, one 50-dollar/day car rental, 300 dollars in meals, two 60-dollar tournament fees, one chance to play in the “Ask Vic” golf tournament and finally claim the golf ball signed by Vic himself and a chance to meet some players? Priceless. I’m pinching myself. I really am.
Vic: Who said anything about players? The players can’t come to the golf tournament while they’re in training camp, much less the day before a game. Maybe I should ask Snoop.
Manuel from Jacksonville
Will you be golfing with your buddy Snoop Dogg during your vacations?
Vic: Where I was this past weekend, if you dropped a golf ball on the ground it would roll 5,000 feet and it would be very difficult to find. No, Snoop and I just hung around the cabin. He likes the mountain air.
Raymo from Jacksonville
So how tough is Tiger Woods, winning the U.S. Open with a torn ACL and a broken leg? Sign him up for camp.
Vic: You won’t tell him I accused him of being overly dramatic, will you? He’s very muscular, you know.
Edward from Lakewood, CA
How will defensive transmitters change the game?
Vic: More plays, more coaches, more mistakes.
Kaydi from Ft. Smith, AR
Do you agree with John Clayton's assessment of the Jaguars?
Vic: Yeah, for the most part, I do agree with it. I think he hit the nail on the head.
