The 2008 NFL Record & Fact Book recently went on sale, with New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning gracing the cover. The 784-page book features information about all 32 teams, the 2007 season in review, historical records and numbers and rules of the game.

Here’s a closer look at how the Jaguars are mentioned:

Notable tidbits

  • Linebacker Justin Durant was the youngest linebacker to start an NFL game in 2007. Durant was born on Nov. 21, 1985.
  • The Jaguars lead the NFL with 4,932 rushing yards in the last two seasons.
  • Over the past two seasons, the Jaguars’ defense ranks second in the NFL in points allowed (578, 18.1), fourth in fewest total yards allowed (9,559, 298.7) and fourth in fewest rushing yards allowed (3,065, 95.8).
  • David Garrard is tied for eighth among NFL active starting quarterbacks (minimum of 10 starts) with a 19-11 record (.633 pct.).
  • Maurice Jones-Drew is the only player with 2,000-plus combined yards the last two seasons.
  • Jones-Drew ranks fourth among active kickoff-returners with a 27.0 average on 62 returns. Dennis Northcutt ranks sixth among active punt-returners with a 10.5 average on 228 returns
  • Fred Taylor ranks second among active rushers with 10,715 yards, trailing only Edgerrin James of Arizona with 11,607 yards. Taylor and Philadelphia’s Brian Westbrook are tied with the highest average per rush among the top 20 active rushers at 4.7.
  • The Jaguars joined the Oakland Raiders with the fewest amount of draft picks in 2008 with five.
  • The Jaguars rank fifth in the AFC and 10th in the NFL with a .543 winning percentage, 113-95, since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Miami holds the top spot with a .608 winning percentage, an overall mark of 354-228-2. In addition, the Jaguars rank sixth in the NFL during that same span with a 67-37 home record (.644).
  • The Jaguars lead the NFL with a 9-4 mark (.692) record on kickoff weekend.
