Hi everybody and welcome to the press box at LP Field. It's a beautiful sunny day in Nashville for one of the feature opening games in the league this weekend. All right, the blog starts now.

Lets' take a look at the premium games in the league today. In the AFC South, Houston is at Pittsburgh and Indianapolis hosts Chicago. Two other games interest me: Dallas at Cleveland and Carolina at San Diego. Tomorrow night, Minnesota is at Green Bay.

The media is starting to fill the press box, which gives me a warm, tingling feeling. I got Ryan Robinson on my left and Vito Stellino on my right. Life is good.

I just had a conversation with John Clayton and I asked him why he's ranked the Jaguars so low. What do you have against the Jaguars, I asked? John paused and then said: Do you really want to know? It's about not having been invited to the "Ask Vic" golf tournament? So there it is, folks.

The Jaguars have won four of the last six games against the Titans and three of the last four that were played in Nashville. Also, the Jaguars have won nine of their previous 12 games in September. That all comes from Ryan Robinson, who always says good things about the Jaguars.

The Jaguars inactives are: Brad Meester, Derek Landri, Jerry Porter, Scott Starks, Charles Spencer, Chauncey Washington, Isaiah Gardner and Mike Walker.

The Titans inactives are: Reynaldo Hill, Quinton Ganther, Chris Henry, Stanford Keglar, Mike Otto, Dwayne Blakley, Lavelle Hawkins and William Hayes.

In the Jaguars' 13-year history, they own the NFL's best kickoff weekend record with a 9-4 record. They've won three of their last four openers.

It's hot here; very hot here. It reminds me of the situation in Jacksonville last year. We're going to find out early in this game if one team has a conditioning advantage. I'm heading over to the radio booth to do our "Jaguars This Week Extra" segment of the pregame show. I'll be back for the coin toss.

The Titans won the coin toss and deferred their choice to the second half. The Jaguars have elected to receive.

Brian Witherspoon is back to receive the kick.

Witherspoon bobbled the kickoff, the Titans overpursued and Witherspoon ran it down the right sideline for 49 yards to the Titans 43.

Fred Taylor minus two and then David Garrard was sacked on second down. It's third and 20.

Incomplete on third down. The Jaguars max protected; no one was open.

Low, short punt is returned to the Titans 23. Clint Ingram is starting over Justin Durant and rookie running back Chris Johnson skirts left end for 18 yards.

Johnson runs for another first down. This is a very, very bad start.

Pass interference against Drayton Florence. It was obvious. The ball is at the Jaguars 32.

Big play here; third and 11.

Short pass is short of the sticks. Rob Bironas is on for a 47-yard FG attempt. It's good.

The Titans offense is just as advertised; all run, no pass. My concern is for the Jaguars offense. It was whipped up front on the first series.

Mo Williams is out and Uche Nwaneri is in at right guard. It may be Mo's knee.

Garrard to Reggie Williams on a slant for a first down at the Jaguars 40.

Big rush forces Garrard to throw high and incomplete. There are problems up front for sure.

Draw to Maurice Jones-Drew goes nowhere. The Titans are dominating the line of scrimmage.

Big rush, incomplete. That was a scary hit on Garrard.

Good, high punt by Adam Podlesh. The Titans have the ball at their 17.

The Titans have given fans to their fans and just about everybody is using them, which makes for a kind of card show.

Brian Williams made a first down-saving tackle after a reception. The Titans have to punt.

Witherspoon fair catches at the Jaguars 32. So far, the Jaguars are showing no signs of the heat getting to them. The defense is running to the ball and playing with a lot of energy.

Albert Haynesworth has some kind of an injury. He's on the sideline. I'll let you know what it is when the Titans tell us.

Haynesworth has a head injury.

Nwaneri is down. The pass completion is short of the sticks. It's fourth and one.

Go for it? Gambler Jack?

Nwaneri has a left leg injury. More later when I get it.

They went for it. Garrard sneaked. He got it. Wow! I'm stunned.

That was nearly intercepted; a floater for Troy Williamson into double coverage.

Screen to Jones-Drew gets the first down.

What escapability by Garrard. He pulled away from three Titans. It's nullified by an illegal formation penalty, however, leaving the Jaguars with a second and 14.

Garrard to Matt Jones for a short gain, but it's holding against Tutan Reyes, who replaced Nwaneri.

Williams has an arm strain and Nwaneri a knee sprain. Both are questionable. The situation on the offensive line is dire.

I'm seeing some signs of the heat getting to the Titans defense. I'll keep an eye on that. Helmets are off.

Haynesworth is back in. The Jags have to punt.

Fair catch on the 19. We're in the second quarter now and this is a big series, in my opinion. The Jaguars can't let this get away from them. Catch-up would be very difficult in this heat.

Quentin Groves is in the game on first down. That's curious.

The Titans are backed up after a holding call nullified a significant gain.

Jeff Fisher is clearly afraid to open it up. Vince Young is this team's Achilles heel.

Interception by Gerald Sensabaugh. I could feel it coming. Young is horrible.

It was first and goal on the five. Fred Taylor carries for one yard.

It's third and goal from inside the one. Jack Del Rio is challenging the call of down. Jones-Drew carried.

I think it's going to be reversed. I think Jones-Drew scored. We'll see.

Touchdown! Garrard to Greg Jones for a yard. The call on the field was upheld. The Jags lost a timeout.

In my opinion, the Titans would be a better team with Kerry Collins at quarterback.

If you can't throw, you eventually won't be able to run. That's where the Titans are right now.

Three and out; bad pass to an open receiver on third down.

Witherspoon returns to the Titans 34. He got a real good block on the edge.

Haynesworth is back on the sideline. Nwaneri is back in the game.

Titans call time out. It's third and 13 for the Jags.

Garrard forced out of the pocket and out of bounds. Punt time. That was a disappointing series. The Jags could've seized control of the game.

Johnson bursts up the middle for 18 yards to the Titans 43. Jimmy Kennedy was cut at the line.

Young to Bo Scaife for 26 yards to the Jaguars 26. Scaife was wide open. Somebody blew the coverage.

The screen goes big, to the Jaguars six. It was a gain of 20. Johnson is a difference-maker.

Titans call time out. It's second and goal from the seven.

Touchdown! Swing pass to Johnson in the left flat. He was all alone but the pass was so low he almost fell down catching it. He made a great play to catch it clean and keep his feet.

Based on what I've see so far, Johnson is a sensational player. The Jaguars linebackers have to do a better job on these screens and swings.

Johnson has rushed for 54 yards and has caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown.

The drive was seven plays, 75 yards. I saw some fatigue on the part of the Jaguars.

Squib kick field by Reyes. He returns to the Jags 34. Witherspoon has the Titans' respect.

Haynesworth is in the game and playing forcefully. Garrard throws five yards to Matt Jones.

Reggie Williams drops a pass. It's third and five.

Garrard moves the pocket to the right and throws to Dennis Northcutt for a first down. Garrard has been hit way too often.

We're at the two-minute warning. The Jaguars have a first down at the Titans 48.

Garrard throws a beautiful ball over the middle to Matt Jones for 33 yards to the 15. Jones found a soft spot in the zone and nobody was there.

Fumble! Titans got it. Garrard was hit from his blind side. Kyle Vanden Bosch broke loose, poked the ball out and recovered it at the Titans 34.

Young had Justin Gage all alone down the sideline and overthrew him.

It's fourth and one. Johnson didn't run hard; he let up and lost the first down. The Titans are punting.

The trouble with big-play running backs is that they're always trying to hit the home run. That's what cost the Titans a first down and a chance to put more points on the board. The half is over.

Garrard is 10 of 16 for 94 yards, a touchdown and a 99.5 passer rating. I'm amazed that he's been able to do that well, considering the pass-rush he's faced.

The Jaguars have rushed for 11 yards. That has to change.

The Titans have a good club. I'm impressed. If they find a way to fix their quarterback situation, look out.

Jaguars special teams have been fantastic today. That's where the Jaguars edge is. The Titans start at their 21.

The Titans are spreading the field to run. It's what they did in last year's opener to rush for 282 yards. It's working again.

The holes are big. Johnson gained 21 yards on two plays.

Justin McCareins was wide open deep; beat Florence. Young couldn't get it there.

Punt time; into the end zone. It was very high. The Titans didn't do a good job of getting down under that one.

Florence plays press coverage and has been vulnerable to double moves. The Jaguars need to keep a safety over the top on his side.

Vince Manuwai is down. This would be a killer.

It looks like a right leg injury. I'll update you when I get more info.

Reyes replaced Manuwai.

Garrard completes a short pass to Williamson for a first down at their 32.

Intercepted by Cortland Finnegan. He was one-on-one deep downfield against Williamson. They both went up and Finnegan came down with it at the Titans 14.

Manuwai has a sprained knee. He won't return.

LenDale White explodes off tackle. First down at the Titans' 29.

White is pounding. He's an interesting change of pace. Usually you go power and then speed. The Titans go speed and they power.

Wide open; too long. The Titans are none for seven on third down. How can they be winning with this guy?

The punt is partially blocked by Sensabaugh. The Jags have it at their 46. They are dominating on special teams. It's keeping them in this game.

This is not a quarterback shootout. Combined they haven't thrown for 200 yards.

Now they have because Garrard just hit Matt Jones over the middle on a play-action pass. First down at the Titans' 24.

Big play; it's third and 10 at the 24.

Pass short of the sticks. Field goal time. Josh Scobee is lining up a 37-yard FG attempt; no good, wide right.

Three and out; on third and five they ran it. That's what Fisher thinks of his quarterback. Punt time.

Poor punt returned by Witherspoon 16 yards to the Jags 37. Witherspoon has been very, very good.

Sack; it wasn't Barnes' fault. He had his man. The rush came from the right side. It was also a coverage sack.

Nice gain by Jones-Drew. It's third and seven.

Garrard to Matt Jones for a first down. Jones has a done a nice job today.

That's the end of the third quarter. The Jags have a first down at the Titans 48. The game may be on the line in this drive.

Correction: It's on the Jaguars' 48.

Quarterback draw on third and four gains a yard. It's punt time.

They knew the quarterback draw was coming. The Titans know the Jags too well.

The Titans have the ball at their nine-yard line.

Draw play for four and a first down at the 19.

Completed pass but they're calling offensive pass interference; push off. That's a big, big penalty. Without it, the Titans would've established field position. Make no mistake, this is a field position game now.

A wild incompletion on third down. Punt time.

The Jags have it at their 36 with 9:07 to play.

Intercepted by Finnegan. Intended for Matt Jones. Finnegan stepped in front of Jones.

Intercepted back. Young threw a ball about chest high right to Derrick Harvey. The ball is at the Titans 43.

Sack. Tony Brown clobbered Garrard. The ball is at the Jags' 46.

Why was Fisher throwing on first down?

On third and 16 Garrard throws to Williamson short of the sticks. It's fourth and 10. They're going for it with 6:15 to play? If they are, this play is the game. There's an injury time out.

The punt team comes on.

Barely into the end zone. This was the right decision by Del Rio. With six minutes to play, you want the ball in Young's hands.

Kerry Collins was warming up. Young came into the huddle and was booed.

It's cramps time. Every play is another injury time out.

Dump pass to Scaife for a first down. He ran through Reggie Nelson.

Young is injured. It looks like it's his left knee. Collins will replace him on third and 15. I can't believe the Titans will throw the ball. There's 4:14 to play and Fisher is going to put this one into the hands of his defense.

The same dump pass goes big. The left tackle moved and they didn't call it. It's at the Jaguars' 26. The gain was 44. They found something on that right side and went right back to it.

No way should a dump pass gain a first down on third and 15. That should've been a surrender play.

White is pounding; second and four at the 20.

It looked like an all-out blitz on the third and 15 play.

Collins to Gage; down to the one-yard line. Collins is their guy.

Touchdown! White off left tackle.

Another big return by Witherspoon. He's been the Jaguars' best player today.

The ball is at the Jags' 46. A dump to Jones-Drew gains a first down at the Titans' 39.

Come on, Marcedes. He caught a short pass and didn't step out of bounds.

Garrard to Lewis again and roughing the passer. The Jags are at the nine. Where has this been?

The Jaguars have no times out. If they score here, they'll almost certainly have to attempt an onside kick.

With 2:13 to play, the Jags will try an onside kick, I would imagine. This is the game. Stay tuned.

Illegal touching; Tennessee's ball. It didn't go 10 yards before the Jaguars touched it. Scobee tried one of those dribblers.

We're gonna get a run and then the two-minute warning.

There's the run and we're at the two-minute warning. The Titans have a second and 12 at their 41. I expect Fisher to run it twice, milk the clock and then punt. Craig Hentrich is a veteran punter.

The Jags will get the ball back with about 20-30 seconds to play in the game.

It's third and two. The Titans call time out with 1:10 to play.

They got the first down. Game over. Bye everyone.
