The Jacksonville Jaguars signed first-year cornerback Kennard Cox and rookie defensive end Rulon Davis to the practice squad today.
Cox has played in four games for the Jaguars this season and spent ten weeks on the club’s practice squad. He was signed to the active roster from the practice squad on December 17 and played against the Colts. He was moved to the active roster on September 15 and saw action on special teams in week three and four against Houston and Tennessee and December 6 against the Texans.
Cox was originally a seventh-round pick of Buffalo in 2008 and was signed by the Jaguars off Green Bay’s practice squad last December. He played in the final two games of the 2008 season for the Jaguars on special teams.
Davis, 6-5, 283, was signed as an undrafted rookie by Denver in May and spent the preseason with the Broncos. Davis played three seasons at California after transferring from Mt. San Antonio College. He totaled 40 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles during his career with the Golden Bears.
A native of San Diego, he attended Charter Oak High School where he played on the offensive line. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps for three-plus years following high school and was deployed to Iraq as an avionics technician in March of 2004, serving in a helicopter squadron.
