Marlon McCree was named assistant secondary coach for the Jaguars on January 16, 2012. This is McCree’s ninth season in the NFL, his first as a coach. He previously served two coaching internships in training camp with the New York Giants and the Denver Broncos.

McCree, 34, was originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2001 and went on to play eight seasons in the NFL. McCree is an Orlando native who grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida.
McCree started in 27 of his 31 games in Jacksonville from 2001-03 and had a career-high six interceptions for the Jaguars in 2002, tying for fifth in the NFL and second in the AFC that year. He also played for the Houston Texans (2003-04), Carolina Panthers (2005), San Diego Chargers (2006-07) and Denver Broncos (2008). McCree registered 16 career interceptions and 487 tackles while playing in 114 games with 91 starts. His playing experience included seven postseason games.
McCree was a three-year starter as a weakside linebacker at Kentucky, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance in 2000. In high school he lettered in football as a SS and LB, as well as earning letters in track and basketball at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, Florida. McCree was a first team Class AAAA All-State selection in football by the Florida Sportswriters Association.
Marlon is the youngest of eight children, with four brothers and three sisters. He and his wife Jahzi live in Jacksonville.
