The Jaguars Academy is a yearly UK-based training camp for amateur players both in the UK and Europe held for the first time at Loughborough University in 2016.
It is split into two camps held over the weekend – the Jaguars Playing Academy and the Jaguars Coaching Academy and, best of all, training is taken by current Jaguars coaches, Jaguars alumni legends and even current players. Denard Robinson appeared to help pass on tips during the inaugural Academy.
More than 160 amateur players attended the first year of The Playing Academy, some coming from as far as Russia, to learn off NFL professionals such as 3 x All-Pro left tackle Tony Boselli, Jaguars special teams co-ordinator Mike Mallory and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud among others.
The goal of the Jaguars Playing Academy was to improve the standard of the game in Britain by offering a level of coaching not available outside the NFL.
The Coaching Academy was a one-day clinic for amateur coaches on Sunday. The day was tailored to European-based coaches looking to experience NFL-level coaching first-hand with a view to bettering their ability to pass on knowledge and improve player and team performance.
