Allen signed, Barnes cut


The Jacksonville Jaguars second-year running back David Allen, who was an exclusive rights player, signed his tender and fifth-year defensive end Lionel Barnes was released.

Allen, 27, played in five game for the Jaguars after being signed on Dec. 1. The second-year pro returned 15 punts for 144 yards and 11 kickoffs for 210 yards. He also added two receptions.

Barnes, 28, started three games last season before being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 15 with a shoulder injury. The 6-5, 260-pound defensive end recorded 25 tackles and two sacks in two seasons in Jacksonville.
