JACKSONVILLE – Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley opens his third training camp with the Jaguars today, but last night on the "Gus Bradley Show" with co-host Jeff Lageman on the Jaguars Radio Network, Bradley was asked what he watches for on the practice field for the first day of training camp.

"You have some things in particular that you're watching on the practice plan, maybe it's a certain situation and you're ready for how it could play out, some of the one-on-one matchups," Bradley said.

"Just overall, (it is) the practice and to make sure that it's challenging and you're making it uncomfortable enough for the players to see great growth. When (practice) feels right, you see it where it's hard and the players are having fun.

"When it's hard and you're enjoying it, that's a good sign."

The Jaguars take the field for the first training camp practice today at 9:55 a.m. on the Florida Blue Health and Wellness Practice Fields.

Also on Thursday night's "Gus Bradley Show":

  • Bradley on left tackle Luke Joeckel: "He just needs to keep growing and learning and developing confidence, but I think Luke really attacked this offseason. He's gotten bigger, stronger. I think his mind, the way he's approaching this, we really look forward to seeing him really take another step as a left tackle in this league."
  • Bradley on linebacker Telvin Smith's weight: "I think he was around 218, somewhere in there, which is good. We asked him to get up, we'd like to eventually get him to where he's 225. More of our concern is when you play multiple reps. Now instead of playing 30 reps you're playing 60 or 65 and three downs, that you need that weight to help you withstand the rigors of the game. He held up pretty well last year, he's heavier than he was."
  • Bradley on Sen'Derrick Marks' rehabilitation during training camp: "It can change week-to-week. All of a sudden a week it could be slowed down, and then one week he makes great improvements and that's what happens.  We'll just wait and see with him. He's doing all the right things."

Each week "The Gus Bradley Show" airs Thursday nights at 6 p.m. on the Jaguars Radio Network, including 14 stations in Central and North Florida and South Georgia. "Jaguars Thursday" airs immediately following on Jacksonville's flagship station of Jaguars football, 1010 XL.
