If Andrew Carnahan can overcome the ACL injury that disrupted his final season at Arizona State, he has a chance to become a developmental tackle on the Jaguars roster.
The Jaguars made Carnahan their final pick of the draft. He comes to them on the recommendation of new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who was Carnahan's head coach at Arizona State.
"Big offensive tackle; more right tackle than left tackle. Dirk believes he's a dependable guy, a tough guy. He'd probably carry a mid-round grade if he wasn't coming off the injury," Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said.
Carnahan isn't especially athletic, but he's got a big body that offers developmental promise and he was a productive blocker at Arizona State until the knee injury this past season and a hand injury the year before set him back. Carnahan is a classic "jar on the shelf" prospect.
