The Jaguars Champions Club kicked off its seventh year with the club's annual orientation meeting held in the West Touchdown Club at EverBank Field, and the group received a surprise visit from new Jaguars owner Shad Khan.
Khan addressed the group of over 200 volunteers by encouraging them to keep up their efforts of supporting the Jaguars in season ticket sales, renewals and community outreach.
Since the Champions Club's formation in 2005, the club's volunteers have made over 250,000 phone calls supporting the Jaguars' renewal efforts from February to April each year. In addition, Champions members have sold over 7,500 new season tickets at over 300 events in the community during the past six seasons.
"You are an extremely important group of some of our best supporters," said Khan. "Our goal is to bring a championship to Jacksonville and make the Jaguars the hottest ticket in town. You are a big part of us achieving that goal."
The Champions were also given words of encouragement from Jaguars Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Macky Weaver, who thanked the volunteers for over 6,000 hours of service volunteered last year.
Weaver said, "Our Champions Club did a superb job in difficult circumstances last season and we're looking for you to continue that great work by getting out into the community now and spreading the message of a great schedule and good things to come."
Champions were given an overview of the club's structure and role before breaking up into teams that are representative all areas of Jacksonville as well as the wider southeast Georgia and northeast Florida region, with volunteers taking part in the club from as far north as Savannah and down into Daytona and North Orlando.
