Coughlin signs contract extension

Tom Coughlin, the only head coach the Jacksonville Jaguars have ever had, has signed a one-year extension to his current contract. Terms of the contract are undisclosed.

"I have made it clear that Tom Coughlin is the right coach for our football team," said Jaguars Chairman and CEO Wayne Weaver. "This extension is evidence of my belief in him and my confidence that he will succeed in reaching our goals."

"I'm grateful for Wayne's trust, and have assured him that we are committed to getting back in position to win a championship," Coughlin said.

Coughlin has led the Jaguars to four playoff appearances, two AFC Central division titles and two AFC Championship games in the Jaguars' first seven seasons. The team has posted on overall record of 66-54, including 4-4 in the playoffs.
