JACKSONVILLE – Gardner Minshew II won't play Sunday.
What was known throughout the week became official late Sunday morning when the Jaguars made the second-year quarterback inactive 90 minutes before their game against the Houston Texans at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville.
Rookie Jake Luton will make his first NFL start at quarterback for the Jaguars Sunday at 1 p.m.
Minshew, out with a thumb injury, was among seven players deactivated by the Jaguars Sunday morning. The others:
Running back Devine Ozigbo (hamstring), cornerback Josiah Scott, cornerback Luq Barcoo, linebacker Dakota Allen (ankle), defensive end/linebacker Aaron Lynch and defensive lineman Cauron Reid.
