The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed offensive tackle Wayne Hunter off waivers from Seattle and signed free agent punter Toby Gowin to a contract today.
Hunter, 24, was originally a third round pick of the Seahawks in the 2003 draft, the 73rd pick overall. The 6-5, 303-pounder played in two games over three seasons with the Seahawks. Hunter began his collegiate career as a defensive lineman at California before transferring to Hawaii and moving to the offensive line. He was a third round draft pick of the Seahawks in the 2003 NFL draft. He will wear jersey No. 78.
Gowin, 31, signed with Atlanta as an unrestricted free agent in 2005 but was released before the season. The ninth-year veteran has spent time with Dallas, New Orleans and the New York Jets. The 5-10, 167-pound punter has played in 127 career games and missed only one game from 1997 to 2004. He has 629 career punts for a 41.2 yard average with 190 punts inside the 20. He will wear jersey No. 4.
The Jaguars now have 86 players on their roster.
