Jaguars Had a Super Week

Cam Bradfield, Will Rackley and Brandon Deaderick from the Jacksonville Jaguars and 12 of THE ROAR cheerleaders celebrated the Super Bowl week in London last week. Here is a flavour of what they got up to…

It was a busy week for the Jacksonville Jaguars in London as we celebrated the climax of the NFL season with Super Bowl XLVIII. The players and cheerleaders headed to Channel 4 on Thursday to speak to Vernon Kay about their experiences of the International Series Game in London and the upcoming fixture against the Dallas Cowboys on the 9th November this year.

From Channel 4, the team headed to St Andrew's Catholic Primary School, who we last visited in September 2013. Following that initial visit, the pupils have been inspired to start playing American Football and have been following the Jaguars games online. To support the growing popularity of sport at the school, THE ROAR took a group of 30 girls through a cheerleading master class whilst Will, Cam and Brandon made a surprise visit to coach their newly formed American Football team. 30 boys from the school took part and BBC London reported from the coaching session for the 6 o'clock news.

Friday saw more media interviews with the Daily Mail, ITV and a @Union_Jax twitter takeover before filming with Olympic sprinter Christian Malcolm for the CBBC 'Get Inspired' series – an opportunity for children to learn about different sports and how to get involved. On Friday evening we took six lucky Union Jax winners bowling at All Star Lanes followed by dinner with the Jaguars.

It was an early start on Saturday morning with the players live on the BT Sport Panel Show whilst the cheerleaders headed to the Sky studios to appear on Soccer AM. In the afternoon, the players made their first visit to Craven Cottage to watch Fulham play Southampton whilst the cheerleaders went to perform at Rosslyn Park Rugby Club who won the 'Support My Team' competition.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the cheerleaders coached 50 children in the Junior ROAR Academy whilst 50 young American footballers were put through their paces by our players in the Jaguars Coaching Master Class at Allianz Park. The players also gave live Sky News and TalkSport interviews before heading to the NFL's Official Super Bowl Party – the Super Bash – where the cheerleaders performed and the players gave interviews and met with fans.

Many thanks to THE ROAR and Will Rackley, Cam Bradfield and Brandon Deaderick for a super week! To see photos and videos, visit the Union Jax Facebook, Twitter (@Union_Jax) or our new Union Jax You Tube channel.
