The Jacksonville Jaguars made several roster moves today. Veteran cornerback Rashean Mathis was placed on injured reserve and first-year defensive end Mkristo Bruce was signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster. The Jaguars signed defensive back Travarous Bain to the practice squad.
Mathis, who leads the team with four interceptions, injured his knee on Monday night at Houston. He holds the franchise record with 25 career interceptions and has played in 90 games since being selected in the second round of the 2003 draft. Bruce, 24, led the Jaguars in the preseason with three sacks after signing with the club on July 25. The 6-6, 260 pound end was waived in final cuts on Aug. 30 and spent the first 12 weeks on the Jaguars practice squad. He will wear jersey No. 90. He originally signed as an undrafted free agent with Miami in 2007 after playing four seasons at Washington State.
Bain, 6-0, 182, was signed as an undrafted free agent by Arizona in 2007 and spent time on the Cardinals practice squad. He spent time on Kansas City's practice squad in 2008. The Miami native started 20 games over two seasons at Hampton after transferring from the University of Miami (FL). He led the Pirates with five interceptions as a senior and earned first-team All-MEAC honors.
