Edgewood Bakery, a Jacksonville institution since 1947, will host its official opening celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at the newly renovated bakery located at 1012 South Edgewood Avenue in Jacksonville. Area media are invited and encouraged to attend this event on Saturday.

On hand for Saturday's event will be Jaguars players Tyson Alualu and Telvin Smith in addition to mascot Jaxson De Ville. Kids will enjoy face painters, balloon makers and a live D.J, and all in attendance will be eligible to win a Jaguars jersey autographed by Blake Bortles and a themed birthday cake. Alualu and Smith will be signing autographs from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Customers may celebrate throughout the day, from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., by sampling Edgewood Bakery's newest creations at one of Jacksonville's most legendary and time-honored locales for great food and fellowship.

In support of the celebration and continuation of a Jacksonville tradition, the Jaguars Foundation will make a charity donation equal to the total sales for the day.  The Jaguars Foundation will present the donation to DLC Nurse & Learn, an inclusion child care center for children of all abilities.DLC provides an inclusion preschool environment for children with and without developmental delays where each child is taught at their own pace.

Like Edgewood Bakery, DLC is located on the Westside but serves children all over Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.

"The reopening of the Edgewood Bakery may have been more than six weeks ago, but it's never too late for a celebration, especially for a great cause like DLC," said Peter Racine, president of the Jaguars Foundation.  "On behalf of Tyson, Telvin and Jaxson, we're asking all of Jacksonville to live a little on Saturday and help support the DLC by joining us at the Edgewood Bakery."

"We've restored Edgewood Bakery's high standards of quality and service that Jacksonville customers have celebrated for generations, and we're looking forward to having first-time or long-time customers visit us on Saturday to see for themselves," added Gary Polletta, director of operations at Edgewood Bakery.  "We're thrilled to be back to own, operate and grow Edgewood Bakery.  Its future is brighter than ever."

Edgewood Bakery recently underwent a complete renovation. Maintenance, repairs and upgrades included roof repairs, exterior and interior paint, new equipment including five showcases and espresso machines, signage repairs, re-canvassed awnings, landscape maintenance and flowers, window treatments and more.
