Jaguars sign Chanoine; Wiegert on IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed offensive lineman Zach Wiegert on injured reserve and signed offensive tackle Roger Chanoine, who spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with the Cleveland Browns.

Wiegert underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee yesterday and will miss the remainder of the season. He started the first seven games of this season, five at left tackle and two at right tackle.

Chanoine, 26, was waived by the Browns on November 4 after playing in eight games with two starts this season. He has career totals of 32 games played and 18 starts, including 16 starts in 2001. He was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the St. Louis Rams in 1998 and spent that season on injured reserve. He spent most of 1999 on the Browns' practice squad but played in one game that year, then in seven games in 2001. The 6-4, 305-pound Chanoine is a native of Linden, N.J. and lettered three years at Temple, where he blocked for Stacey Mack. He will wear jersey No. 69.
