The Jacksonville Jaguars signed second-year cornerback Kevin Rutland to the 53-man roster, the club announced today. Rutland spent the first five weeks of the season with the Jaguars, playing in three games, before he was waived on October 15.
In three games, Rutland had three tackles on defense and one special teams tackle. He appeared in 14 games with the Jaguars as a rookie in 2011 after he earned a spot on the opening day roster as a free agent. He finished with 18 tackles and one interception along with five special teams tackles.
A four-year letterman at Missouri, Rutland played in 54 games with 26 starts. He led the team as a senior with three interceptions along with 44 tackles, four sacks and seven passes defensed. He posted a career-high 47 tackles and a team-high two interceptions as a junior.
Rutland will wear jersey number 22.
