Jaguars Sign Cox; Place Nkang on Injured Reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed defensive back Chad Nkang on injured reserve after Nkang suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears. The team signed rookie defensive back Kennard Cox to a contract.

Cox, 23, was signed by the Jaguars off of the Green Bay Packers practice squad. The 6-0, 200-pounder was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft with the 251st overall pick out of Pittsburgh. The Miami native was waived by the Bills in final cuts in the preseason. He will wear jersey No. 26.

Nkang began the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering a wrist injury in the offseason. The second-year veteran played in seven games this season and recorded seven special teams tackles and one forced fumble. He set the single-season record with 30 special teams tackles as a rookie last year.
