Jaguars Sign Knight

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran free agent safety Sammy Knight, who had been with the Kansas City Chiefs for the past two seasons. Veteran safety Kevin McCadam was released today.

Knight, 31, started all 16 games for the Chiefs for the second consecutive season in 2006 and started the Chiefs' playoff game at Indianapolis. The 6-1, 215-pound safety is entering his 11th NFL season. He finished as the Chiefs' second-leading tackler with 87 stops and added two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble.

The Southern California graduate and Fontina, California native, has started 153 of his 156 career games with New Orleans, Miami and Kansas City. He was originally signed by the Saints as an undrafted rookie free agent in 1997. He has recorded 1,067 career tackles, 38 interceptions, seven sacks and 13 forced fumbles. He will wear jersey No. 26.
