The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed second-year linebacker Slade Norris to the practice squad and waived rookie cornerback John Destin. The Jaguars have one spot open on the practice squad.
Norris was a fourth-round draft pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2009 and played in four games as a rookie. He spent time on the Raiders practice squad and 53-man roster before he was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 30 with a hamstring injury. He spent the first two weeks of the 2010 season on the Raiders practice squad.
A native of Portland, Oregon, he was a three-year letterman at Oregon State where he played safety, linebacker and defensive end. He registered 19 sacks and 82 tackles during his collegiate career.
