The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed guard Jamar Nesbit and cornerback James Trapp.
Nesbit, 26, started 45 games at guard and center over the last three seasons for the Carolina Panthers. Originally signed as an undrafted rookie in 1999, the 6-4, 330-pound Nesbit took over as starter in his second season and opened all 32 games in 2000 and 2001. Ankle injuries sidelined him for two games early in the 2002 season, but he started 13 of 14 games played. Nesbit played collegiately at South Carolina.
Trapp, 33, played in 14 games for the Baltimore Ravens last season, making 36 tackles and one sack. A veteran of 10 NFL seasons, the 6-0, 190-pounder was a third-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Raiders in 1993. He has played in 144 games with 32 starts and is considered a stellar special teams player.
The addition of Nesbit and Trapp brings the Jaguars' roster to 87 players for the start of today's minicamp.
