Jaguars sign Pearman

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie running back Alvin Pearman to a contract today. Pearman was drafted in the fourth round and was one of eight players selected by the Jaguars in the 2005 NFL Draft in April. Only two Jaguars draft picks, Matt Jones and Chad Owens, remain unsigned.

Pearman, 22, was the 127th overall selection in the draft. The 5-10, 206-pounder was a four-year letterman at Virginia recording 2,394 rushing yards with 19 touchdowns and 1,396 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The Charlotte native served as the team's punt returner, averaging 11.2 yards a return on 28 punts with one touchdown in 2004.

All 88 Jaguars are under contract except for two of this year's draft picks.
