Jaguars Sign Wide Receive Nate Swift to Practice Squad

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie wide receiver Nate Swift to the practice squad, the club announced today.

Swift, 6-2, 202 was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Denver in April and was waived on September 4. Swift played in 51 games with 29 starts at Nebraska, finishing with a school-record 166 receptions for 2,476 yards and 22 touchdowns. He finished his career ranked second in school history for receiving yards and touchdowns.

As a senior in 2008, Swift ranked second on the team with 63 receptions for 941 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned 23 punts for a 12.9-yard average and one touchdown. He was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and majored in construction management.

A native of Hutchinson, Minnesota, he was a three-year starter at Hutchinson High where he scored 72 career touchdowns. He led the state with 2,500 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior, earning Minnesota Player of the Year honors.
