JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars continued to address the wide receiver position Monday.
A week after seven wide receivers missed time during organized team activities, the Jaguars on Monday signed rookie free agent Brandon Wimberly, a wide receiver who played collegiately at the University of Nevada.
The team released offensive tackle DeMarcus Love.
Wimberly (6-feet-3, 225 pounds), who participated as a workout player in the team's May 16-17 rookie minicamp at the Florida Blue Health and Wellness practice fields, caught 97 passes for 989 yards and eight touchdowns for Nevada last season.
Wimberly's signing gives the Jaguars 13 receivers, with seven – rookies Marqise Lee (ankle), Allen Robinson (hamstring) and Lamaar Thomas (knee) and veterans Tandon Doss (calf), Mike Brown (groin), Ace Sanders (thigh) and Cecil Shorts III (calf) – missing time last week.
Rookies Allen Hurns and Damian Copeland, veteran Kerry Taylor and first-year veteran Chad Bumphis participated fully in OTAs last week. The team acquired rookie wide receiver Kevin Smith off waivers from Arizona Thursday.
