Jaguars Waive Brown, Sign Cox

The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived safety Delvin Brown and signed defensive back Renard Cox off the New Orleans Saints' practice squad.

Cox, a 5-11, 188-pounder from the University of Maryland, was signed as an undrafted rookie by the Arizona Cardinals in 2000 and waived late in the preseason. This year, he played for the Scottish Claymores in the NFL Europe League and then was signed by the Saints on July 20, waived in the final cuts on September 2 and signed to the team's practice squad on October 30. He started eight of 22 games played for Maryland in 1998 and '99 and is a native of Richmond, Va. He will wear jersey No. 36.

Brown played in five games this season, all on special teams, making three tackles. He was signed as an undrafted rookie out of Miami (Fla.), waived in the final cuts and re-signed on September 12 after Donovin Darius was injured.
