The Jacksonville Jaguars today waived first-year defensive back Kennard Cox and fourth-year defensive end James Wyche. The Jaguars have 51 players on their current roster.
Cox has played in four games for the Jaguars this season and spent ten weeks on the club's practice squad. He was signed to the active roster from the practice squad last Thursday and played against the Colts. He was moved to the active roster on September 15 and saw action on special teams in week three and four against Houston and Tennessee and December 6 against the Texans. He was originally a seventh-round pick of Buffalo in 2008 and was signed by the Jaguars off Green Bay's practice squad last December. He played in the final two games of the 2008 season for the Jaguars on special teams.
Wyche, 6-5, 279, was originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Jaguars in 2006 and spent the final seven weeks on the Jaguars' active roster that season after starting the year on the practice squad. He was placed on injured reserve for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but he made the roster this year and was inactive for the season-opener at Indianapolis. He was waived on September 17 and signed to the practice squad on November 24. He was signed to the active roster on December 3 and played in two games.
