The Jacksonville Jaguars today waived third-string quarterback Phil Stambaugh and kicker Jim Tarle and replaced them on the roster by signing quarterback Roderick Robinson and linebacker Jeff Posey. They also waived linebacker Joe Wesley from the practice squad.
Robinson was waived by the Indianaspolis Colts on Monday after serving as their third-string quarterback the first half of the season. He is a 6-3, 235 pounder from Arkansas-Pine Bluff who was with the Jaguars in the 2000 preseason. The 25-year-old Robinson has spent time on practice squads in Indianapolis and Philadelphia. He is a native of Memphis, Tenn.
Posey is a 6-4, 249-pound fourth-year linebacker who was recently waived by the Carolina Panthers after playing in two games this year. Posey, 26, played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1998 to 2000, appearing in 48 games and making 15 starts. He played college football at Southern Mississippi and is a native of Greenville, Miss.
