Jones-Drew hosts football camp

Jacksonville Jaguars running back/kick returner Maurice Jones-Drew will be hosting a football camp for children ages 6-14 from June 6-8 at Andrew Jackson High School Football Stadium.

Jones-Drew will be joined by several of his teammates along with area high school coaches. Interested parties can register for the camp each Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Central Metropolitan Church at 4611 Peal Street in Jacksonville. For more information on the camp, please contact Armor Bearer, Inc. at (904) 779-9288 or at .

"We want to teach kids new techniques and have a lot of fun," Jones-Drew said. "It gives these kids a chance to know us on a personal level and not just as players. That is the best thing about it. I never had that chance growing up."

The three-day camp costs $200 and includes lunch, snacks and drinks. Jones-Drew is hoping sponsors will come on board to allow more children to attend.

"We would like to challenge some of the major corporations in the city to step up with scholarship money, maybe provide lunch or t-shirts, anything they can do to give back to the community," Jones-Drew said.
