Jones-Drew to Hold Special Event at Toys "R" Us Friday Morning Then Compete with Military Troops in

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will host a special shopping spree for more than 70 children from a local organization on Friday morning and then host an online video game showdown with military troops stationed across the world.

The Maurice Jones-Drew Foundation is hosting 70 children from the Sulzbacher Center's aftercare program for a special holiday event on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Toys "R" Us in the St. Johns Town Center. The foundation purchased $100 gift cards for each child and they will select their favorite gifts for the holidays while also meeting the Jaguars running back. Sulzbacher Center is home to more than 330 homeless members of the Jacksonville community each day, many of whom are children.

The foundation was established earlier this year to help youth-focused organizations. Jones-Drew has hosted a football for youth camp the last three years in Jacksonville and has also held camps in his hometown of Antioch, Calif. In June, Jones-Drew donated 100 sets of Reebok shoes, gloves and compression shirts to members of the Andrew Jackson High School varsity football team. He distributed backpacks in August to more than 200 area children following a training camp practice.

Jones-Drew is teaming up with Activision Publishing and Pro vs. GI Joe at 11:00 a.m. to compete with troops stationed in USO Centers in Camp Sather (Iraq), Camp Virginia (Kuwait), Camp As Sayliyah (Qatar) and troops based stateside in Fort Bliss (El Paso, Texas), Fort Drum (New York) and the Naval Air Station Jacksonville (Florida). They will be playing matches of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 over Xbox LIVE. Jones-Drew will be playing from the Touchdown Club at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

Pro vs. GI Joe is a nonprofit organization that provides troops serving all over the world with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to take on their favorite professional athlete or celebrity in heated head-to-head video game competitions online and in person. More information can be found at
