Many Jaguars hosting holiday events this week


Defensive tackle Terrance Knighton and his mother, Rochelle, will host their third annual Thanksgiving dinner celebration on Tuesday, November 20 for families served by Community Connections of Jacksonville. Dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Connections facility at 327 E. Duval St. (32202).

Terrance will be joined by several of his teammates, and will serve a feast of pot roast with red potatoes and carrots, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, cranberry sauce, sweet potato pie…and of course, turkey with traditional dressing and gravy.

Community Connections of Jacksonville is a non-profit organization founded in 1911 that provides after-school programs, youth enrichment camps, and transitional housing and essential support services to assist homeless families in gaining self-sufficiency.

Jaguars to serve lunch at Allied Veterans Center

D'Anthony Smith, Maurice Stovall, Kyle Bosworth, Zach Potter, Will Ta'ufo'ou, Kevin Rutland and Chris Prosinski will serve lunch at Allied Veterans Center on Tuesday, November 20 from noon to 1:30 p.m. The center is located at 40 Acme Street in Jacksonville.

The Allied Veterans Centers is a nonprofit corporation committed to making a positive impact in the community by assisting those men and women who, when answering the call to duty, protected the freedom of that same community by serving their nation.

Wide receivers team up to benefit Police Athletic League

The Jaguars' wide receivers will provide a special Thanksgiving dinner from Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q on Tuesday, November 20 at the Police Athletic League on 1050 Franklin Street. Food will be served at 4 p.m. by Justin Blackmon, Laurent Robinson, Cecil Shorts, Kevin Elliott, Micheal Spurlock and Mike Brown.

Players signing autographs at Winn-Dixie

Josh Scobee, Rashad Jennings and Uche Nwaneri will be signing autographs and bagging groceries from 6 to 8 p.m. at Winn-Dixie (2220 County Rd. 210) on Tuesday, November 20.

Players host Thanksgiving dinner for Sulzbacher Center

Brad Meester, Daryl Smith, Greg Jones, Russell Allen, Paul Posluszny, Eugene Monroe and Dawan Landry along with their families will host more than 150 children from various community agencies on Wednesday, November 21 for a Thanksgiving dinner compliments of Levy Restaurants. The event will be held in the West Touchdown Club at EverBank Field at 5:30 p.m.

Children from the Sulzbacher Center, Special Olympics of Duval County, daniel and Police Athletic League of Jacksonville will be provided with dinner.
