It was the position most expected the Jaguars would draft with their first pick. Ironically, it was a position they didn't address until their last pick.
Florida defensive end Bobby McCray became the Jaguars' 10th and final selection of this draft, when the Jaguars made him the 249th overall pick. McCray, 6-6, 251, recorded 9.5 sacks for the Gators last season and offered enough in the way of size and speed to warrant use of the Jaguars' lone compensatory pick in the seventh round.
"Good size, speed and some pass-rush ability. We'll let him come in and compete," coach Jack Del Rio said of the pick.
McCray and his eight draft-class counterparts will report to Alltel Stadium this Thursday for the start of a weekend mini-camp.
