JACKSONVILLE – The consensus remains strong.

When it comes to the Jaguars and the 2019 NFL Draft, that doesn’t mean every analyst is leaning toward the franchise taking offensive tackle at No. 7 overall. It just seems that way sometimes.

Jawaan Taylor, an offensive tackle from the University of Florida widely considered the top right tackle in this year’s draft class, remained the selection of choice for the Jaguars among draft analysts this week. Six of 12 prominent draft analysts in the 12th jaguars.com 2019 Mock Draft tracker projected him to the Jaguars at No. 7.

“Jacksonville's biggest need? Right tackle. The best right tackle in this draft? Taylor. Perfect fit,” Mel Kiper of ESPN wrote.

Among those agreeing with Kiper: ESPN analyst Todd McShay.

“Stick Taylor at right tackle to protect [quarterback] Nick Foles and block for [running back] Leonard Fournette [in the] ground game,” McShay wrote.

Charles Davis of NFL Media, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports, Chad Reuter of NFL Media and Liam McKeone of the Big Lead also projected Taylor at No. 7 to the Jaguars.

“Taylor could be the first offensive lineman taken and it would make perfect sense; he's a monster in the run game and was rarely fooled in pass protection last season,” Wilson wrote, with Davis adding “The Jags added their QB in free agency in Nick Foles. Now they want to protect him and get Leonard Fournette back in form.”

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today, Robert Klemko of Monday Morning Quarterback and Will Brinson of CBS Sports projected Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson to the Jaguars at No. 7.

“The best all-around tight end prospect in the draft should remind new quarterback Nick Foles of former Philly teammate Zach Ertz,” Klemko wrote.

Luke Easterling of USA Today Draftwire and Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus projected Mississippi wide receiver D.K. Metcalf to the Jaguars.

“With Nick Foles, [the Jaguars] have to build around him on offense, and even though Metcalf isn’t a perfect prospect, he may be a perfect pick for Foles,” Palazzolo wrote.
