JACKSONVILLE – What was interim is now official.
Trent Baalke, after joining the Jaguars early last year and after serving as interim general manager since late November, is now the team's general manager. The Jaguars announced the move Thursday morning.
Baalke, 56, joined the Jaguars as director of player personnel last February. He served as interim general manager following the November 29 departure of former General Manager David Caldwell.
Baalke spent much of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, working with that organization as an organizational scout from 2005-2007, as director of player personnel from 2008-2009 and as the vice president of player personnel in 2010.
He spent 2011-2016 as the 49ers' general manager.
The 49ers went 51-44-1 during Baalke's tenure as general manager, qualifying for the postseason each season from 2011-2013 and winning the NFC West in 2011-2012. The 49ers made the Super Bowl following the 2012 season.
Baalke was named the Pro Football Writers Association Executive of the Year for 2011.
Baalke was the Washington Football Team's college scouting coordinator in 2004 and a scout with the Washington Football Team from 2001-2003. He was a pro scout with the New York Jets from 1998-2000.
