JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars used free agency to aggressively address defense.
That was particularly true at linebacker, where they acquired one of the NFL's most productive players at the position.
Foye Oluokun, an inside linebacker who led the NFL in tackles for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021, has agreed to terms to sign with the Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent. The Jaguars announced the agreement Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m., the beginning of the 2022 NFL League Year.
Oluokun, 26, a sixth-round selection by the Falcons in the 2018 NFL Draft from Yale, was credited with 192 tackles in 2021. That led the NFL and is ranked by some sources among the top 10 tackle seasons in NFL history.
Oluokun, who has been credited with 462 tackles in four seasons, registered four tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits this past season. He also started all 17 games, starting every regular-season game for the first time in his career. He has forced seven fumbles in his career with five career interceptions – two in 2020 and three this past season.
The Jaguars also on Wednesday announced they have agreed to terms with six other unrestricted free agents: Wide receiver Christian Kirk, wide receiver Zay Jones, offensive lineman Brandon Scherff, defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi, tight end Evan Engram and cornerback Darious Williams.
