Players help distribute equipment

Several Jacksonville Jaguars players, with help from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, will be attending the official announcement of the YMCA of Florida's First Coast renovation plans of the Jessie Ball duPont YMCA on Old Kings Road (7373 Old Kings Rd., South). The event will take place on Tuesday, October 3rd at 3:30pm. The Renovation Project, which is budgeted at $100,000, will allow the YMCA to further strengthen its youth development services for families on the First Coast.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida awarded the YMCA a grant for $15,000 and athletic equipment in support of the center. Jaguars players Khalif Barnes, Deon Grant, Bobby McCray, Reggie Williams and others will be in attendance to help distribute the donated athletic equipment to the YMCA after-school program kids.

Thomas "Trigg" Wilkes, The YMCA of Florida's First Coast CEO, says, "These significant grants from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida will greatly assist us in providing youth in our area with a first class health and wellness experience. The Jaguars and BCBSF's commitment to this community is exemplary, and we are truly fortunate to count them among our most ardent supporters."

The YMCA Youth Development Center offers children an alternative to an unsupervised life in front of a television or video game where they can enjoy a sport-focused and healthy after-school or weekend experience with stimulating activities, including multiple sports instruction, weight training, mentoring, tutoring, special events, and guest athletes.
