JACKSONVILLE – Jalen Ramsey is Pro Bowl-bound again.
He's starting again, too.
Ramsey, the Jaguars' third-year cornerback, on Tuesday was named to the Pro Bowl for a second consecutive season. He also was named a starter for a second consecutive season.
"I would like to thank the fans, my teammates, my coaches and all my opponents that voted for me to the 2019 Pro Bowl, but most importantly, I'd like to thank God for everything he has done for me and my family," Ramsey said in a statement. "I had a great experience in Orlando last year getting to know so many of the top players in our league and I'm excited to have that opportunity once again.
"While the Pro Bowl may seem like an individual honor, it's a credit to everyone on our defense, and I hope to see some of my brothers added to the Pro Bowl roster in the coming weeks. Thank you, all."
Ramsey, a first-team Associated Press All-Pro selection last season, has registered 57 tackles (54 solo), with 11 passes defensed and three interceptions this season.
Ramsey thus far is the only Jaguars player named to the game this season. Pro Bowl rosters were announced Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the NFL Network's Pro Bowl special "NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Players Revealed."
Ramsey, the No. 5 overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft from Florida State University, has started all 14 games this season and never has missed a start in his NFL career. He has 185 tackles with 161 solos in his career, and also has 42 passes defensed, nine interceptions and a forced fumble in his career.
His 10 career games with multiple passes defensed are the most through three seasons in franchise history. Ramsey A.J. Bouye (2017) and Rashean Mathis (2006) are the only Jaguars cornerbacks to be selected to the Pro Bowl.
Ramsey became the first Jaguars player named to back-to-back Pro Bowls since Owner Shad Khan purchased the team in 2012. The team has had eight Pro Bowl selections in that span: linebacker Paul Posluszny (2013), wide receiver Allen Robinson (2015), Bouye (2017), defensive end Calais Campbell (2017), defensive Malik Jackson (2017), defensive end Yannick Ngakoue (2017), linebacker Telvin Smith (2017) and Ramsey.
Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone has coached 13 players to 19 Pro Bowl selections during his 13 years as an offensive line coach, offensive coordinator or head coach.
Players for the Pro Bowl are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 players selected.
The Pro Bowl will be held at Camping World Stadium in Orlando Sunday, January 27, at 3 p.m. Pro Bowl Week festivities will take place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort for a third consecutive season.
